Summary/objective:
The Wingfeather Saga Animated Series at Angel Studios is looking for an Environment Concept Artist with a knowledge of 3D modeling and a passion for rich, fantastical worlds to join our team as we begin work on Season 6. Role reports to Art Director.
Essential functions
Work closely with the Art Director to generate designs for a variety of environments, both interiors and exteriors.
Create unique and inspired concept designs that range from blue sky world building and mood to the nitty-gritty details
Execute on briefs created by Art Director
Explore a wide variety of ideas through sketching, mood boards, 3d mockups, finish concepts, and illustrations
Proactively seek feedback from Art Director, Production Supervisor, and other collaborators
Create detailed callouts that accurately portray functionality, material properties, construction, scale, and the like for use by respective departments
Develop and maintain an understanding of the story, its characters, and any limitations set forth by the team
Create rough, but well organized and to-scale pre-vis models to be used for layout
Must attend and contribute to regularly scheduled staff meetings.
Proficiency in speaking, reading and writing in the English language required. Additional language proficiency is a plus.

Competencies
Strong understanding of traditional art fundamentals including composition, perspective, color theory, lighting, proportion, and surface properties
Strong visual design instincts and ability to create concepts that support and enhance the vision of the art direction
Self-motivated and driven with excellent communication skills
The ability to work well within a remote art department
Receptive to art direction and critiques from project leadership and team members
Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite and other software tools
An exceptional listener with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with and Google Workspace.
Detail-oriented perspective and able to pick up on overlooked details.
Organization and time management.
Able to maintain confidentiality of information.
Must be able to manage multiple assignments, set priorities, and adapt to changing conditions.
Resourceful and able to problem-solve and manage tasks with ambiguity.
Willing to perform an array of tasks both in and out of the office.
Can take feedback to tasks and assignments positively and create better solutions.
A quick study, able to pick up new skills and learn how to use new programs.
Must participate in setting and achieving regularly scheduled and outlined objectives.
Recognize when you're wrong, learning from your mistakes and moving past them.
Ability to take individual ownership, execute with high energy, share context, insist on candor with positive intent.
Work environment -
When in the main office, expect a comfortable, air-conditioned work environment. Team members are issued their own desks, but the office is an open, shared space and can be fast-paced and occasionally noisy.
Physical demands -
Ability to sit at desk and use computer for prolonged periods of time
Position type and expected hours of work -
Regular full-time, 40 hours per week.
Preferred education and experience
A portfolio that shows experience working within fantasy themes and visual stylings
Ability to create production ready 3D proxies
Experience with Unreal Engine a plus
Strong technical ability and willingness to learn new tools, techniques, and workflows
Tennessee resident a plus. Remote work available
